Week 3, Term 1
Welcome
Dear St James Community,
On Monday 7th February, we welcomed our 57 new Kindergarten students to St James Primary; they have transitioned to school confidently and happily, and they are now settling into their new surroundings and routines of school. We pray that their 13-year journey of Catholic Education is filled with faith, joy and learning and that during their time at St James they live, learn and grow in God’s love always.
Lord, fill their hearts with excitement and help them make friends, enjoy the activities and build relationships with their teachers and carers. We entrust them each day into your care, and as we do may they grow in confidence and independence. May joy abound in their hearts as they enter this new exciting season of their lives. Amen.
Welcome Astyn, Adrian, Evelyn, Tessa, Isaiah, Wynter, Okana, Sofia, Ezekiel, Sylvie, Blair, Grace, Annah Emilia, Matteo, Toby, Seth F, Francesca, Laney, Noah, David, William, Aiden, Chloe, Braxton, Emily, Sonny, Henry, Rowan, Ikal, Harry, Seth M, Zoe M, Louis, Cooper, Hayden, Callum, Isla, Lennox, Eddie, India, Zoe R, Archie, Imogen, Harvie, Layla, Oliver, Arielle, Ollie, Poppy, Daya, Madeline, Mackenzie, Victoria, Mathias, Charlotte, Elliot and Niraal.

Upcoming events
We are hopeful that the Welcome Breakfast and Liturgy that was postponed earlier this year will occur in Week 5. Our Welcome Breakfast will be on Tuesday 1st March, which is Shrove Tuesday [pancake day]; breakfast will be served from 7:30am and in advance, we thank our parent volunteers for their assistance. Following our breakfast, we invite parents to join us for our Welcome Liturgy (8:45am), which will include the Year 6 Student Leadership Induction. The following day is the start of Lent, which will include an Ash Wednesday Liturgy. These events will occur if COVID guidelines allow; this will be confirmed closer to the date, but for now, please save the date!
Our Parent-Teacher-Student 3-way Conferences are set for 7th, 9th and 10th March. An Operoo booking invitation will be provided by email soon; please note we've added an additional session on Monday 7th March to assist families with bookings. Our teachers are looking forward to sharing each student's glows, grows and goals with families.

To conclude
Today, Friday 18th February, we held the 2022 ‘Show Your Colours Day’ with students celebrating their sense of belonging and connectedness to our beautiful school, and particularly their house team (Hanly, Ryland, Polding & MacKillop). This year’s ‘Festival of Colour’ included learning about the characters behind the House names, singing and colourful activities.....it was a fun-filled and joyful day of celebration and belonging!
